Task 1: Research

what is a single camera production
single camera production is a production which is simple piece of media a or music video taken by single shot camera
benfits
Single cameras often move during shooting, with the use of dollies and tracking devices, and provide a more cinematic feel to the resulting video
Disadvantages
isadvantage of a one-camera set-up is how it requires more time to shoot, as covering all camera positions and angles would mean having to repeat shooting scenes

The mulit camera production is a video production method where mulitple record the same thing at the same time
what is a multi camera production
benfits
Multicamera filming makes for much more engaging and enjoyable viewing than relying on a single camera
Disadvantages
it takes longer to set up the equipment. its also more expensive than single cameras because there is more there are more than 1 camera they are using

Core assessment
Music Video: Dave Streatham
This video uses a range of good single camera techniques. It starts off with and establishing shot to show us the location with a Steadicam camera , moving gaudily slowly towards the bus and we see bus moving, into focus moving onto the subject of Dave who is standing in focus while people in the background are out of focus at this moment of time the camera has a small Apture and shallow depth of field as the main subject is in focus and the people in the background are not the Apture would be f/8- f/16. The use of this Apture and shallow depth of field creates a sense of importance towards the main subject and the audience watching it connotes power importance and can show levels of social class power. The audience's first thoughts and impressions would be the leader and someone who has power as he is in focus and the others are not.
At 1.07 Santan Dave is being shown in a mid-shot, this shows his facial expression and body language more closely and in detail to the audience. From 1.07 to 1.13 the focus length of background and people in the back behind the subject start to become in focus but not fully the aperture goes up to 7.1 to 4.5 it stops as Dave is dancing while walking to the camera. This explains or alludes to the audience that Dave is the Centre of attention, and all the focus is on him. The use of this mid shot here explains to audience his emotions and hand gestures from 1.09 to 1.17 where he is showing us facial expressions and hand gesture's which imply that he deep into what he is saying believes truly using body language repeatedly, this is shown using throughout the video using single cameras.

From1.49 to 1.51 Dave is also being shown in long shot. The subject and background are pulled into focus this means that the Apture defiantly goanna up to f/22. This allows us to see the subjects' surroundings and themselves. The long shot allows us to see the subject's full body and costume to see what he is wearing. Hes costumes tells the audience that Hes apart of the street life focusing on his body and costume and surroundings it gives the audience a real feel of how he is feeling. At moment 2.51 towards the end is a high angle shot it gives us view of what the main subject is doing as he in car on the move the subject is brought into focus as he winds the window down the focus moves up slight with brings the apture up to round f16 it .
Tv and drama
This scene from Netflix power: Tariq kills Ghost
I chose this scene from power as it has great shots in this video. From 0:00 It starts off with a zooming on the subject James st Patrick. It zooms into the subject's face to help us understand the subject's feelings and emotions. He uses mvc to express that audience and the zooming of the facial expression really helps to get that feel of the how the subject feels at that moment of time. The Apture of this would be f5.6 to f11 and focus length would be around 35 to 80mm. The use of this medium Apture creates suspense as we do not know what is about to happen to the music and editing has a part to play in this. It tells or shows the audience how unaware the subject James st Patrick of the situation of what is about to happen
From 0:07 to 0:12 tracking is used on the subjects' movements. This creates a sense of suspension as the mood of this scene is already in such an atmosphere. In the background of the scene everything is blurred out once the tracking is done it switches to close on subject this means he is the focus the Apture and the focus pull of background changes to around f2.2 I believe they done this as they want the subject to remain in focus as he is the most important in this scene
They also use over the shoulder shot. This shot is good for when the characters are having conversation. The effect this could have on the audience is that it shows us the reaction of the characters from over the shoulder shot.
documentaries
The documentary plant earth was documentary by bcc. I picked this documentary because single camera techniques are used when making this documentary.
The first camera technique is angle shot slightly but also in the documentary I noticed an establishing shot used they as well used at the start of the documentary. The effect this shot has on the audience is that it gives the audience a clear shot and the type of environment they are filming in this documentary and animals that live there in the habitat. This is because the shot is so far out so that makes it easy to capture a lot more using single camera technique.
Another camera technique they used is framing they use close on the cat cheetah. The effect this has on the audience, or the viewers, is that it gives the audience a chance to see such species up close and see spefic features of the animal. The Apture of this would be around 1.8 to 2.2. What this could tell the audience is that the production team filming this documentary are only focused on what the animal is doing and not its surroundings
